By this I mean all the people and events in your life that have gone into making you who you are.
In the hugely stressful 21st century world we live in, therapy offers you a chance to take time out for yourself, and reflect on where your life might take you in the future. You could think about it as an investment in your emotional life, that hopefully will impact on your happiness and health in general. I take a holistic approach where I look at all aspects of your life, past and present.
I provide a space where we can think together about your life, and ways you might change destructive or unhelpful patterns.
Psychotherapy provides a safe space where you can think about the way you are living your life now, and your hopes for the future. I am committed to providing therapy in a confidential and non-judgemental way.
When you make a decision to come for therapy, I will carry out an assessment with you to help us understand how your past experiences and relationships may be affecting your life today. We think about how you experienced your parents, grand-parents, siblings, friends, and people who were important to you in some way. This might include teachers, mentors or colleagues.
We also think about experiences which may have been difficult or traumatic for you, such as bullying, family changes or the death of someone close. We will then explore how your experience of the relationships between significant people in your life, such as parents, siblings, friends and partners, may have influenced the ‘script’ by which you now live your own life.
We then commit to meeting weekly at the same time. This is your space and it is kept for you every week. Clients often ask me how long the therapy might last. This is always difficult to say, but usually new understanding takes time to emerge, allowing us to live more fully and with greater insight. For more information about One-to-One Therapy call me on 077721 12039. If I am not available please leave a message, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can call me on 077721 12039 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
I am flexible about appointment times, offering early morning appointments that you could fit around a busy commute, and evening and Saturday morning appointments if you work late, or need to arrange babysitting. Appointments can be held in person, or online via Zoom, Facetime or telephone.
